Introduction
My Digital Essay topic is Poverty in America. Poverty is one of the largest obstacles a majority of Americans are faced with every day. The causes, the disadvantages, and the effects of poverty make it a never ending cycle that is incredibly hard to overcome. For most people they are born into poverty and are never given a chance at life out of poverty. It is said that a huge part of the american experience is achieving the "American Dream" which can be success, wealth, a home, etc. But how is this American dream obtainable if most people are submerged in a life of poverty. Most people don't even realize how prevalent poverty is in America and if people are aware of it they seem to brush it off their shoulders and make no effort to end it. I think to really understand the American experience we can't look at the outlying group that found success and wealth we have to observe and understand the larger group, the group of americans living in poverty. Everyone deserves the opportunity to succeed and poverty is blocking many Americans from achieving the "American Dream".
