This article from the Center For American Progress produces 10 solutions that will help cut poverty and grow the middle class. The 10 solutions are:
1.Create Jobs
2. Raise the minimum wage
3. Increase the earned income tax credit for childless workers
4. Support pay equity
5. Provide paid leave and sick days
6.Establish work schedules that work
7.Invest in affordable, high-quality child care and education
8. Expand Medicaid
9. Reform the criminal justice system
10. Do no harm
Although all of these solutions would take time and careful organization and would be hard to execute if we could even make progress in some of these solutions we would already be on the path to cutting down poverty. A huge part of why so many people are living in poverty is because they've lost their jobs or can't get one, creating jobs would completely change poverty in america. Another reason people live in poverty is because the jobs they do have don't pay them enough to support themselves and often a family so by raising minimum wage we would be one step closer to getting rid of poverty. All of these steps in the long run could potentially lead to a poverty free country, but it would take time and commitment from everyone. Poverty isn't just going to blower it will keep existing until it is put to an end.
